Novelis is a leading global producer of lithographic coil, which is sold to the major lithographic plate makers around the world.

THE WORLD OF PRINTING

Whether newspapers, magazines, books, catalogues or advertising brochures – the quality of lithographic plates, as the basic material in the production process of printing products, plays a decisive role.

Novelis Europe is the leading global manufacturer of lithographic plates offering a high level of technological competence which is concentrated at Novelis in Göttingen. Product safety, reliability and consistency of quality are critical. Modern organisational structures and intelligent storage logistics enable both on-demand and just-in-time delivery.

Our customers in this highly specialised business are global players, such as Kodak, Fuji and Agfa, who place the highest demands on us as a premium provider and on our aluminium coils. As these are processed to printing plates, which are delivered to publishing houses, printers and copy shops around the globe, the very highest quality standards are demanded and supplied. Therefore our lithographic plates have to exhibit the best characteristics, with respect to metallurgical purity and surface integrity and in the consistency of quality. On top of this, Novelis offers the worldwide reproducibility of these outstanding quality standards.

When the final product emerges – when the printing products are ultimately produced, in the most diverse designs, formats and colours – our demands on precision make an impact.

Of course, lithographic plates can be very easily recycled for the production of new aluminium products, saving energy and resources.

THE OLDEST PRINT PRODUCT IN THE WORLD,

is thought to come from 14th-century Korea. With a functioning, economical, complete system made from movable metallic letters, Johannes Gutenberg finally initiated the decisive development that started in the mid-15th century and lasted until today’s digital age. Yet, in spite of all the digital media: The global market for printed documents continues to expand. All over the globe, new formats and colours are continually in demand. In many countries, we see fast-growing level of demand for print products of every type.
